Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it’s that time of year again. Gone is the carefree air of summer and back is the stress of school, finals and endless studying. Every year you tell yourself you’re going to get started on the right foot, but it isn’t always that easy. Here are 4 back-to-school tips to remember when you want to start fresh in a positive way.
1. Keep a Balance
No one likes to study, but you know it’s good for you in the long run. But how much is too much focus on schoolwork? It can stress you out to focus on studying and homework 24/7 so make sure you set aside some time to spend with friends and family.
2. Keep Active
Often when you’ve spent your entire summer outside in the sun, the change of pace that comes with sitting for 8 or more hours a day and focusing on schoolwork can wreak havoc with your focus. Find some time to get exercise, whether it’s with a school sports team, or running through your neighborhood as a hobby.
3. Don’t Save Schoolwork Until the Last Minute
It seems like every year, even when you’re not trying to procrastinate, work piles up and you can’t go to a big party on the weekend because you have school work to finish. You can’t see into the future, so it’s better to just get work done as its assigned so you can hang out with your friends when a social activity comes up.
4. Get Involved
Whether it’s volunteering in your community or joining school clubs and teams, it’s good for your college applications and your social life if you cast a wide net and get involved with as many extra-curricular activities as you can, while you have the time.
